My Favorite Christmas Things

I am totally obsessed with Christmas time. Just the feeling in the air makes my whole body tingle with excitment. Too bad finals kind of take the fun out of the Christmas season. Oh how I wish I was home sipping hot chocolate by the fireplace with a Christmas tree beside me and Christmas music playing in the background. Unfortunately Jason decided we wouldn't really be decorating this year since we will be moving and he doesn't want to haul all that extra stuff. So, next year he will just have to deal with me going all out for the holidays. Here are a couple of my favorite Christmas things:

A Word on the Flu

Remeber when you were a kid and you loved getting sick because that meant you didn't have to go to school? And when you would start to get better, you still managed to fake how sick you were in order to take a couple extra days off of school. Well, last week was the first time in about seven years that I got the flu. Not just the kind of sick adult flu, the full on digusting kid flu! I didn't even think it was possible to get that kind of flu anymore! I missed two days of work. Luckily no school, but I had a huge paper due on Monday and a test to take before Thanksgiving break. I was just plain mad the whole "break." Instead of enjoying my sick days laying around on the couch, I worried about school and the fact that I was missing work the whole time. Don't you wish you could just go back to your middle school days where the flu was the best thing that could happen to you?

The Honeymoon

So, the day after the wedding, me and Jason headed off to Long Beach to embark on our Mexican Riviera Cruise. After leaving snowy Salt Lake, we were more than happy to land in the tiny Long Beach airport where you go outside to get to the baggage claim. I thought that was so weird! We left the airport to go to the boat where we would wait in line for like 4 hours just to get on the boat. Good thing the weather was beautiful. We got on the boat and explored. Cruises are kind of a weird thing. You have the richest of the rich and the white trash and everything in between. Me and Jason spent lots of the cruise just watching people because we got a kick out of them. Seriously, so funny. We stopped in Puerta Vallarta (which was pretty gross and people wouldn't stop following us to sell things), Mazatlan (we didn't even get off the boat! haha), and Cabo. Cabo was so pretty and we loved it. Definitely the highlight of the cruise. The people didn't bug you as much and I think we liked it because it was like America. Haha, ya we don't deal well with other cultures I guess. So, that was the cruise, we had lots of fun, but were happy to go home. Seven days lasted a lot longer than we thought it would. We are back now at school and work and being married in our little apartment. Here are some honeymoon pictures!

Married

So me and Jason are finally married and so happy! We are loving everything about being married, though it doesn't feel too much different from before. We are enjoying putting together our kitchen and bedroom and basically our life. Picture of the finished apartment to come. We had an amazing wedding day and an amazing honeymoon. We couldn't have really asked for anything more. We want to thank all our friends and family who helped us out. We couldn't have done it without them.

Missery

Me and Jason went back to my home this weekend. I think Jason will now refer to Missouri as Missery. Unfortunately he came at a very hot and very humid time of the year. A summer of rain has made for even more humid aid than usual and an over abundance of bugs. It was pretty gross.

Our weekend consisted of my first of two bridal showers (so fun!) and doctor appointments for me before I go off of my parents insurance (so not fun!). I brought Jason around the town and mid-mo. There wasn't much to see, but a perfect amount for the five day trip. Here are some pictures!

Camping

A word that most people would think as harmless, but to me it means complete torture. Well, it did up until this past weekend. Jason's mom decided that a family camping trip needed to occur in the middle of July. Now, we must remember I am from Missouri; a hot and humid state where you just DON'T go camping in the middle of July. The thermometer may read 90 degrees, but it will feel more like 105 degrees in July. Also, I have gone camping twice. The first time was when I was 15. I went with church and we had to endure treterous winds and tornado warnings all night long. Not fun. The second time was also with church. I had to sleep on a hill with rock stabbing my back. Neither were fun experiences.

So, when I heard we were going camping, those horrible experiences came back to haunt me. I wasn't really dreading the trip to Fish Lake, but more wondering how I was going to get through it. I packed and then Jason told me what I really needed to pack. He said I would need a sweatshirt and long sleeved shirts. I was mystified to why I would need this stuff, but I brought them anyways. We ventured up to the lake late Friday afternoon. It had already dropped to 70 degrees by time we got there. Weird. We ate dinner and went to bed on air ma tresses! Already, both of my horrible views of camping vanished. Though, I couldn't sleep all night in fear that I would be eaten by a bear, at least I was comfortable. The next morning we woke up at 6:30 to go fishing. Normally there would be no way I could get up, but I hadn't really slept, so I had no problem. We left out campus site with an amazing view and got onto the boat to go fishing all day. I hate fishing, but I did have fun for those 10 hours that we did fish. Unfortunately, I was the only one that didn't catch a fish on that 10 hour trip, but I was constantly anticipating that I would catch one that the day went by pretty fast. But, I am going to be honest, I have fished before and never caught anything and am pretty sure I am just bad luck and will never catch anything. We headed back to the campsite for a dinner of fried chicken and potatoes (did I mention how much I love camp food). We left for home the next morning, perfect amount of time for a camping trip.

So, I have to admit, camping in Utah, high up in the mountains isn't that bad. It is actually pretty fun when equipped with the right things...an air mattress, cool weather, and good food.

Many iquiries have been made about the colors for the wedding: chocolate brown and mustard yellow. Perfect for the fall.

engaged

So, now that me and jason are officially engaged, I have decided to start our blog so that the world in constantly updated on our life together.

Jason proposed on June 27, 2008 and we are getting married October 11, 2008, though we have been planning for about 2 months now. Here's the story...

So, the reason we had to wait so long to get engaged was because my dad wanted jason to properly ask him in person for my hand in marriage. Unfortunatley he couldn't get here until last week. After that we had to wait for the ring to be finished being made, which was finished last thursday. Jason was adamant about not proposing before his cousins wedding on friday because he didn't want to focus taken off of her and put onto me on her special day. On the way up to Salt Lake (where the wedding took place) Jason told me that he forgot the ring at home and was upset because he wanted to show his mom who was in town for the wedding. I had my suspicions he was lieing, but went along with it anyways. After the reception Jason asked me if I wanted to go to Spoon Me (a frozen yogurt shop of which I helped with some research for). I said okay even though it was almost midnight and I was tired. Throughout the night Jason had been joking with me and getting down on one knee, trying to throw me off. By time we finished Spoon Me, I was really mad at him, thinking he wasn't going to propose. He then took me up to the capital which sits on top of a hill overlooking Salt Lake. He said "lets go on a walk" and I said "why?" and he said "lets just go on one" and I said "no" and he said "please!" and I said "fine". So, we walked up to the capital and went out on this ledge and sat down and talked. The he asked me to stant up and I said "no" and he said "just do it please" and I said "nope". Do you think I could have been anymore difficult. So he got down on one knee and then I shot straight up! He proceeded to propose and I said yes. It may not sound perfect, but it was. I was so happy and it was so beautiful.

But, then I remembered that I promised my mom I would take pictures, so we hiked back down to the car, got my camera and went back up to the capital to reinact the proposal, which are the pictures you see here.

So, this is the start of our life together which is why a blog HAD to be started.
